MATCH PREVIEW
ADELAIDE STRIKERS
The Strikers got off to a pretty good start to the tournament and consistently found themselves amongst the top four sides in the competition, but are beginning to lose steam as we are moving into the back-end of the league stage. The lost their last match by a heavy margin, which also made a huge dent to their net run-rate. Having said that, they still have a pretty good net run-rate to go with nine points, and if they manage to score another couple of wins in their next two wins, they'll once again be the prime contenders to make it to the playoffs.
So dismal have the Strikers been in their last five matches, that they have lost four out of their matches thus far in the tournament. They posted a superb win over Melbourne Renegades with bowling as well as their batting both doing well, but were dismal against the Heat.
Against the Heat, their batting just did not turn up as they were bundled out for 110. Had it not been for their lower middle-order, they would have struggled to get even to a total of 100. Their bowlers tried hard to keep Brisbane Heat from getting to the target, but the total was too little to present any challengers to the potent Heat lineup.
In the past few matches, Brisbane Heat have struggled to perform consistently across the departments. They have a terrific team on paper and it was evident from their performance in the first half of the tournament. If their batting as well as their bowling can step up and perform to their potential, then the Strikers would be a force to deal with.
BRISBANE HEAT
After losing to Perth Scorchers in a high-scoring encounter, Brisbane Heat finally found their way back to the winning ways with an immaculate performance against Adelaide Strikers in the previous match. The win took them to third spot on the ladder and they will now be looking to rise further up the ladder. As it stands, they have five wins to their name, totaling ten points, and a net run-rate of 0.192. Even though Brisbane Heat recently suffered an embarrasing loss at the hands of Perth Scorchers, they wouldn't be too disappointed as they bounced back into the tournament with a pretty strong win.
Their bowlers did an immaculate job of containing Adelaide Strikers to a subpar total of just 110, a total which was like a walk in the park on that surface. James Pattinson was the pick of their bowlers as he returned with the exciting number of 5 for 33 in four overs. Josh Lalor and Ben Cutting played a terrific support role as they both picked up a couple of wickets each to stifle the Strikers.
With AB de Villiers in the team and Tom Banton out, the Heat's lineup looked stronger in the middle-order. Matt Renshaw and AB de Villiers looked in splendid form as the duo took Brisbane Heat to a superb win. Matt Renshaw scored a well-compiled half-century whereas AB de Villiers contributed with a well made 40.
