ABOUT THE MATCH

The Eliminator and Qualifier 1 of the Bangladesh Premier League have been played. We now have one team in the final of BPL 2019-20, while its opponents will be decided by the result of this upcoming match: Qualifier 2.

The Chattogram Challengers won the Eliminator and will now play against the Rajshahi Royals, who lost in Qualifier 1 to the Khulna Tigers. This will be the third time that the Chattogram Challengers and the Rajshahi Royals play against each other in BPL 2019-20 with both of them winning one match each.

T20 cricket reduces the difference between the sides and opens it up to upsets, more so than any other format of cricket. Since both the sides are loaded with match-winners, it would be foolish to take anything for granted.

Rajshahi Royals vs Chattogram Challengers BPL 2019-20 is going to be played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on the 15th of January 2020. ROYALSThe Rajshahi Royals were blown away by the Khulna Tigers in their previous match. The Royals started pretty well with the ball and kept the Khulna Tigers to just 158. In response, though, they were left frozen as Mohammad Amir ran through the side and picked up six wickets.We have seen Mohammad Amir do this on multiple occasions in the big matches and there is not much that opposing teams can do about it. The Rajshahi Royals need to focus on the positives and forget about the previous match.

Shoaib Malik played a very good hand of 80 and is in very good form with the bat. Liton Das may have failed in the previous match but he has been superb in BPL 2019-20 while the likes of Atif Hossain, Alok Kapali, Ravi Bopara, and Andre Russell have contributed as well.

The batting unit may be a bit shaken after the previous match but the talent and power to win is certainly present in the lineup.

Andre Russell used seven bowlers in the previous match to try and change things up and keep the batsmen on their toes. It seemed to work as the bowling figures of most bowlers suggest. Mohammad Irfan and Shoaib Malik were very good with the ball and will lead the bowling attack once again.

CHATTOGRAM CHALLENGERS

An absolutely brilliant bowling performance from the likes of Rubel Hossain, Rayad Emrit, and Nasum Ahmed was the reason for the Chattogram Challengers waltzing to victory against Dhaka Platoon. The Challengers reduced Dhaka Platoon to 60 for 7 after which they relied on their all-rounders to reach 144.

In reply, Chris Gayle, Ziaur Rahman, Imrul Kayes, Mahmudullah, and Chadwick Walton all got runs. Gayle played very slowly, though, getting his 39 runs from 49 deliveries. Granted that the target was not very big but he still increased the pressure on every other batsman in the side.

We are sure the Chattogram Challengers would like to see an aggressive Chris Gayle take the side rather than the version we saw in the Eliminator.

There is no doubt that the Chattogram Challengers have some momentum coming into this match. The batting lineup looks pretty solid and the bowling unit has been performing quite well also.

This could be a great opportunity for them to take advantage of a Rajshahi Royals side that is low in confidence.
