Eintracht Frankfurt vs RB Leipzig
Germany - Bundesliga
Date: Saturday, 25 January 2020
Kick-off at 14:30 UK / 15:30 CET
Venue: Commerzbank-Arena (Frankfurt).
The Red Bulls are flying into Frankfurt gunning for their 13th victory of the season as they face troubled Eintracht in Saturday’s Bundesliga clash.
Die Adler aren’t the same side who pushed their way into top togs of German football last season. Sitting at 11th with just 21 points after the break, they’re closer to the relegation battle then they’re to European places.
On paper, their home form isn’t all that bad; fifteen points won from nine games, just two defeats all year but should we scratch under the surface, we’ll see that Adi Hütter’s men hasn’t won a league game at Commerzbank-Arena since the beginning of November.
Timo Werner’s second-half antics helped Bundesliga leaders RB Leipzig come from behind at home to Union Berlin and extend their advantage at the top of the table.
That was a continuation of Die Roten Bullen’s unbeaten streak that started with 8-nil trashing of Mainz back in November, a terrific run which only Dortmund somehow survived which ultimately placed Julian Nagelsmann’s men on the top, four points clear of the reigning champions from Munich.
No side is more prolific on the road than the Red Bulls; six wins, two draws and a weird defeat at Freiburg since when they’re on a four-games unbeaten run, with the last game played being a 3-3 classic v Borussia Dortmund.
Hütter won’t have Gelson Fernandes, Nils Stendera, Lucas Torró and Marco Russ for an upcoming battle v Leipzig. Daichi Kamada and Sahverdi Cetin are back in training but neither is deemed fit enough for Saturday.
Nagelsmann as well won’t have his team at full strength. Matheus Cunha is away with Brazil u23 squad, Kevin Kampl, Willi Orban and Ibrahima Konaté are all injured whilst Emil Forsberg just might be ready for a trip to Frankfurt.
