BRISBANE HEAT
- Brisbane Heat failed to build on their seven-wicket victory over Adelaide Strikers as they collapsed in dramatic fashion against the same opposition to fall to a 10-wicket loss to harm their finals hopes.Match InfoMatch:BRH vs MLR, 44th Match, Big Bash League 2019-20Date:Sunday, January 19, 2020Time:08:10 AM GMTVenue:The Gabba, BrisbaneBrisbane Heat Squad:Chris Lynn (c), Jimmy Peirson (wk), Max Bryant, AB de Villiers, Matt Renshaw, Joe Burns, Ben Cutting, Josh Lalor, Mitchell Swepson, Ben Laughlin, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, James Pattinson, Sam Heazlett, Jack Prestwidge, Mark SteketeeMelbourne Renegades Squad:Venue GuideStadium:The GabbaCity:BrisbaneCapacity:42000 (approx)Measures:149.90m square, 170.60m straightEnds:Stanley Street End, Vulture Street EndHosts to:Queensland, Brisbane HeatAlso Hosts:Australian Rules Football (Brisbane Lions), Rugby Union, Athletics, Baseball, Cycling, Greyhound Racing, Pony Racing, Rugby League, Soccer
- In a vital match, the Strikers were able to leapfrog the Heat on the ladder after they removed Brisbane for just 100 with Chris Lynn and Matt Renshaw combining for 69 of their side’s runs.
- Things did not get any better with the ball as they failed to take a single wicket in response to defending the low total as the Strikers raced to victory and the Heat will have plenty to prove in this contest but will be boosted by the return of batsman Sam Heazlett who replaces Max Bryant in the squad after overcoming an illness.
MELBOURNE RENEGADES
- Melbourne Renegades finally ended their losing streak in this edition of the Big Bash League as the reigning champions won their first game of the campaign at the tenth time of asking by beating Sydney Thunder.
- The rain may have helped the Renegades as they were able to score 172/4 from their 20 overs and that resulted in a target of 135 off 14 overs for the Thunder because of the poor weather conditions.
- Daniel Christian was the standout with the ball as he ended with figures of 3-14 as the Renegades restricted the Thunder to 122/7 and allowed the Melbourne side to claim a 12-run victory by the D/L method with that outcome seeing the Renegades name an unchanged 13-man squad.
