• In a vital match, the Strikers were able to leapfrog the Heat on the ladder after they removed Brisbane for just 100 with Chris Lynn and Matt Renshaw combining for 69 of their side’s runs.

• Melbourne Renegades finally ended their losing streak in this edition of the Big Bash League as the reigning champions won their first game of the campaign at the tenth time of asking by beating Sydney Thunder.
• The rain may have helped the Renegades as they were able to score 172/4 from their 20 overs and that resulted in a target of 135 off 14 overs for the Thunder because of the poor weather conditions.
• Daniel Christian was the standout with the ball as he ended with figures of 3-14 as the Renegades restricted the Thunder to 122/7 and allowed the Melbourne side to claim a 12-run victory by the D/L method with that outcome seeing the Renegades name an unchanged 13-man squad.
